Important Notes on Mobile Web Sites
Mobile web sites are specifically designed for viewing on Mobile Devices such as Mobile Phones.
Until recently web sites are meant to be seen in a computer that has a large screen for viewing, along with reasonable power and internet connection speed.
Mobile phones have smaller screens and are far less powerful than a standard desktop computer. Web sites in their current form do not work well on mobile phones.
Therefore, the need for web sites to be specially created for mobile phones. We can create a standards compliant mobile web site in just 3 business days.
Setup and Hosting
While we can provide hosting for your new mobile site - it is far more efficient to make several slight changes to your existing site and simply provide us FTP access to a specific location within your existing site. Typically this would involve adding a navigation link at the top of your existing site called ‘mobile’ - allowing mobile web users to quickly navigate to content they can view. Secondly, you or your developer would need to create a new page or sub-domain for your mobile content. This would take the form of www.yoursite.com/mobile or www.mobile.yoursite.com.
Additionally, there is a mobile web specific domain naming convention, .mobi. Check with your hosting or domain registrar to see if they support the .mobi naming convention, if so - this is another option you may want to consider. You do not have to have a .mobi domain to have mobile web content. Regardless of where you post your content - it may be a good idea to lock up the .mobi domain for your site.
